Honeymoon planning

Choosing a resort for a honeymoon

Nearly every Maldives resort markets itself as a honeymoon destination, which makes the word almost meaningless on its own — the more useful filter is what kind of quiet, privacy and pacing you actually want.

Adults-only vs. family-friendly

If quiet is the priority, an explicitly adults-only or adults-focused resort removes the variable of nearby kids' clubs and family pools entirely — worth checking directly rather than assuming from marketing photos, since "romantic" branding doesn't always mean adults-only in practice.

Honeymoon perks — confirm, don't assume

Champagne on arrival, a private dinner, a couples' spa credit — these are common but rarely automatic. Many resorts require booking under a specific "honeymoon package" rate or notifying them in advance (sometimes with proof, like a marriage certificate) rather than applying perks to any couple.

Pacing a honeymoon itinerary

A single-resort week suits travellers who want to properly switch off; splitting the trip across two islands — a quieter one and a more activity-focused one — suits couples who'd get restless on one island for a full week. Both are common; there's no default "correct" length for one island.

Season and value

The shoulder months — late April/early May, or October/November — often balance decent weather against meaningfully lower peak-season pricing; see our best time to visit guide for the full seasonal breakdown.
