Baros is one of the longer-established names in Maldives resort tourism, sitting in North Malé Atoll (see our Kaafu Atoll guide) close enough to the airport for one of the more straightforward transfers in the country.
What it's known for
The resort is generally positioned toward adult and couples travel rather than a family-activity-heavy program, with a reputation for a quieter, more understated house-reef-and-lagoon setting than some of the larger, more amenity-dense newer resorts.
Why its age matters
Being one of the earlier resorts built in the country means Baros has had decades to establish its house reef and grounds — a different kind of maturity to a newly built private island, worth knowing if an established, settled feel matters more to you than the newest design trends.
